The Way of the Cross
People often ask, who is carrying the cross around the streets of Milwaukee?
Why do you carry the cross every Friday around our neighborhood in Sherman Park?
Every Friday the Missionaries of the Real Presence walk around the city streets reminding our neighbors of God's love for them, that Jesus came and died for all of our sins. We can offer up all of our pains and sufferings with Jesus on the cross and take up our cross daily and follow him. We all need a constant reminder of our saviors infinite love for us. Friday is the day that Jesus died for us
At noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon... Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last. (Mark 15:33,37)
Jesus died on the Cross at 3pm and so we begin our Way of the Cross at 3pm as a reminder of his death and our need to take up ours and fill up what is lacking to the rest of the body of Christ, the church.
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church (Colossians 1:24)
The Way of the Cross begins at 3 pm and ends around 5 pm at St Catherine's Catholic Church at 5117 W Center St. Milwaukee, WI 53210
